Join one of the world’s most loved and acclaimed animal communicator’s, Pea Horsley, on this ‘bucket-list’ dream retreat to swim with wild Dolphins in Hawaii, watch Humpback Whales and snorkel with Manta Rays.

The Kona coast is home to hundreds of resident pods of Spinner Dolphins, migrating Humpback Whales and over 150 Manta Rays. This retreat focuses on ethical, respectful and meaningful connections.

  • Open your heart with the joy of dolphin play and love.
  • Connect with One-consciousness through deep communication with whales.
  • Transport to other dimensions with the mystical Manta rays.
  • Immerse yourself in the healing vibrations of the ocean.
  • Accelerate your own personal transformation and empower your soul’s potential through the guidance and energies of ocean friends.

You will leave with a heart bursting with love, feeling more alive, with a rejuvenated purpose and feeling a deep soul transformation.

This is a small group retreat: 12 people max.

A week in Hawai'i provides you with a safe and stunning sanctuary to rest, heal, grow and consider your life's purpose. Hawai'i literally wraps its energy around you and holds your hand whilst sharing with you her secrets of the sea and earth. There is something quite special about the group of people who travel with Pea, all there for their own reasons but without knowing it there to help others in the group, should you wish to do so. There remains to this day a connection to Hawai'i, through the experiences I received whilst there, that form part of my being and have enhanced my life for the greater good. The whales, turtles and dolphins all bring their own stories, joy, love and healing - if your heart is calling out for Hawai'i - just do it.

- Claire

The warm and shallow waters surrounding the Hawaiian Islands are a favourite destination for kohola, or humpback whales. Two-thirds of the North Pacific humpback whale population migrate 3,000 miles from the Gulf of Alaska to visit Hawaiian waters every year from November to May. We will be in the peak of their return to Hawai’i to breed, give birth and nurse their calves. Connecting with a humpback whale in person is an unforgettable experience.

The spinner dolphins, or nai’a, are known for their impressive spinning leaps out of the water and very playful nature. They embody unconditional love and remind us that what we create with our will becomes our physical reality. Dolphins are experts at increasing our inner joy and childlike play. There is some belief that Native Hawaiians deemed dolphins to be an oceanic tribe with equal rights as humans.

The manta rays, known as hahalua, which means two breaths – ha meaning breath and lua meaning two – are harmless, graceful creatures who have an entrancing effect and are held in high regard by Native Hawaiians.

It isn't easy to put into words an experience that was so life-changing as the cetacean retreat with Pea Horsley. Our contact with the dolphins and whales exceeded all my expectations and the bonus was the contact we had with other sea creatures, like turtles, mantas, pilot whales, wonderful fish and more.

I guess anyone can book a trip to Hawai'i and get on a boat to swim with dolphins, but there is a big difference in being in a group of likeminded people, with the same kind of love and respect for the beings we were communicating with.

We all ended up learning from the dolphins the importance of a pod mind, and Pea is brilliant in supporting that in a group; in holding the space for us all to have our very own experience and also as a human-pod. In the end it wasn't just about the dolphins and whales, it was about us all diving deep, growing and transforming. Loved, loved, loved it all!

This sounds amazing already!

Day 1 – Arrive Big Island into Kona (Sat 2 March)

Land at the Big Island of Hawai’i into Kona International airport (KOA) and transfer to the Royal Kona Hotel in the village of Kailua-Kona. This oceanside Hawaiian hotel is the best location to see the dolphins and whales every day as they swim in the waters alongside this resort. Settle and relax, enjoying a muscle soothing bath or shower and cleanse away the airmiles. Depending upon your arrival time and energy level, you’re invited to meet up for supper or a drink before a restful night’s sleep. If you’d rather do your own thing that’s ok too, there’s plenty of time to get acquainted with fellow retreaters the following day. Today is about you landing, grounding and beginning your experience of Hawai’i frequencies and aloha.

The Cetacean Retreat with Pea Horsley was brilliant. I recommend anyone who feels the cosmos nudging them to get closer to the whales, turtles, dolphins, manta rays, mermaids & mermen, fish, bees, angels and conscious energies to listen to their hearts and go if they can. The hotel we used was wonderful, and if it was at all possible, I would go again. The time spent on the boat and the way we attempted to be among the creatures who came to greet us or were curious about us was ethical and respectful, which is paramount as far as I am concerned.

- Margie

Day 2 – Meet, Greet and Snorkel (Sun 3 March)

The retreat formally starts today at 1pm. We meet for an introduction, a cetacean honouring meditation and overview of the week ahead. This gathering will be followed by a snorkelling orientation. Afterwards there will be time to explore Kona and enjoy a leisurely supper in front of a stunning Hawaiian sunset.

Day 3 – Dolphins and Whales (Mon 4 Aug)

We’ll rendezvous with our dolphin and whale guides and then transfer to the harbour for the start of our adventure. Today you’ll meet new dolphin friends and experience whales who wish to connect with you. Various sea life may cross your path and an open heart and curious mind are all you need to have a magical experience.

Hawaii is a special place to me, unlike any other and not just because of its beauty. The energy I felt and the experiences I had will stay with me forever. The feeling of love and the wisdom of the cetaceans really opened my eyes as well as helping to develop my communication with them. I was also surrounded by a wonderful pod of humans experiencing their own journey but supporting each other in the process.

It was a journey of healing, self-development, awareness and animal communication with many WOW moments. Hawaii called to my soul and I listened, which I'm so glad I did.

- Emma

Day 4 – Dolphins and Whales (Tues 5 March)

Today will be intuitively heart-led by what the dolphins and whales wish us to experience. Perhaps there will be more focus on receiving messages from the whale wisdom keepers. Listen to the ocean as you feel gently rocked into a merging with this natural wonder that surrounds and supports all life. Return after a day of adventure for dinner followed by an evening talk.

A wonderful experience with some very special and kind people, where I learnt so much about universal energy and animal communication.
It helped me understand and believe in animal communication and start on a new journey in life. Swimming with wild dolphins and other cetaceans was the most serene experience.

- Rachel

Day 5 – Manta Rays (Wed 6 March)

Today is our dedicated manta ray day and an experience like no other. In the morning you can rest or choose to be active, perhaps with a helicopter tour over volcanoes or an 8.30am yoga class (extras not included in retreat). After lunch there will be a talk and in the evening a manta ray night snorkel.

Day 6 – Dolphins and Whales (Thurs 7 March)

More fun in the ocean swimming with dolphins. When snorkelling keep looking around because you may find yourself surrounded by dolphins, they may sonar you or invite you to play the leaf game. As you gaze out to the deep blue of the Pacific Ocean also watch for breaching humpbacks, visiting bottlenose dolphins or passing pilot whales. Enjoy the warm blue water, ocean breezes and being as one with nature.

Hawaii was such an incredible adventure! The ocean is completely magical as are all the beautiful creatures in there too ?????
Pea made certain that we were so well taken care of at ALL times, physically, emotionally, spiritually ❤️ I highly recommend it as it will stay in my heart for always. Thank you Pea! I found my courage to get me there and I'm SOOOO glad I had this wonderful experience.??

- Elaine

Day 7 – Dolphins and Whales (Fri 8 March)

This is our final experience on the water to say goodbye to our new dolphin and whale friends. We may be blessed with a breaching humpback whale acknowledgment or a dolphin pod honouring. We’ll share our gratitude with a sacred ceremony out at sea, sharing our love and respect for all the ocean life and Kai (the ocean) herself.

Your last evening in Hawai’i is yours to choose how you spend it; whether sharing experiences with new friends over supper or enjoying some solo time for silence and contemplation. There will be so many wonderful encounters to reflect on and this could be a good time to journal how you feel and how you will incorporate everything you’ve learned into your life back home.

Day 8 – Closing Ceremony (Sat 9 March)

This morning we will bring our retreat week to a close with a special sharing gathering. It will be hard to say goodbye to the new friends we’ve made but this is where this journey ends with big smiles and hugs. When you return home you’ll have many incredible stories to share and there will always be a little bit of Hawai’i that remains in your heart. The retreat will finish at 1pm.

Please note: This schedule is subject to flow and fluidity at any time due to weather and other factors beyond our control.

Important: There is no formal teaching on this retreat. Please make sure you attend an animal communication workshop or complete an online course beforehand in order to understand the necessary basics. You can also read Pea’s new book, Animal Communication Made Easy.

I am ready to go!

Location

Hawaii is a Pacific state located in the Pacific Ocean 2,100 miles southwest of the mainland United States. It is the only state not located on the continent of North America and the only state made up entirely of islands. The state encompasses nearly the entire volcanic Hawaiian archipelago, which comprises hundreds of islands spread over 1,500 miles. Hawaii’s diverse natural scenery, warm tropical climate, abundance of public beaches, oceanic surroundings, and active volcanoes make it a popular destination. We will be based in Kailua-Kona, a town on the west coast of Hawai’i Island (the Big Island).

Your Accommodation – The Royal Kona Resort Hotel

Your Hawaiian-owned hotel has a coastal view of the passing dolphins and spectacular sunsets. Its within walking distance of our boat guides for effortless transfers, perfectly located for restaurants, shops and historical sites like the Hulihe‘e Palace, and some say it has the best Mai Tai in the village!

This hotel also boasts it’s own lagoon where you can practice snorkelling. It may not be a remote hotel setting but it has the facilities and location that makes this retreat easy and accessible for all. Rooms can be requested as private or twin share. Your accommodation is included in the retreat price.

In Hawai’i we greet friends, loved ones or strangers with Aloha, which means with love. Aloha is the key word to the universal spirit of real hospitality, which makes Hawai’i renowned as the world’s centre of understanding and fellowship. Try meeting or leaving people with Aloha. You’ll be surprised by their reaction. I believe it and it is my creed. Aloha to you.

Suitability

This is an open ocean experience which requires basic swimming skills and a reasonable fitness. More novice swimmers can take advantage of floatation aids and/or buoyancy jackets. If in doubt do take floatation support on the first few times while you get used to the experience. Those with back issues or other concerns that impair getting in or out of the water and swimming/snorkelling in open water may not find this a suitable retreat.

Participant’s can attend without snorkelling skills but it’s advised to practice snorkelling prior to attending. This will help you feel more relaxed in the ocean and better able to enjoy being with the dolphins. We also provide a snorkelling orientation session on Sunday afternoon.

It is not expected that you go into the ocean at every ‘drop’. It is perfectly acceptable to stay on board and enjoy a different kind of experience. We also suggest you’re aware of your energy level and when you may feel tired and need a rest.

The snorkel with manta rays takes place at night when they are feeding. The ocean will be black and will feel quite different to your day time experience, however there are also lights illuminating the plankton. You’ll benefit from feeling more confident snorkelling for this experience. From the boat you are asked to swim out about 10-15ft to a float board with rubber rings which you hold while floating flat on the top of the water (to avoid fins damaging the rays). It’s a passive experience, holding on, keeping horizontal, while your head is in the water looking down to the manta rays. If you wish to return to the boat early just inform the boat crew and they will safely escort you.

It is vital that everyone follows every instruction given by the Captain and crew when on board and in the water. They are there to take care of your safety and will be knowledgeable about many factors of which you are unaware.

If you are in any doubt about your suitability for this retreat please make contact.

CANCELLATION INSURANCE

This covers you for the rare possibility that you might have to cancel due to illness, family emergency or situations out of your control.

It is also possible that the programme has to be cancelled due to weather or other adverse conditions out of our control. Our hosts will only cancel a programme due to possible severe weather once NOAA has issued a hurricane warning for our area, which means hurricane conditions are expected within 36 hours.

In these cases there will be NO refunds, programme reschedules or replacements possible from Animal Communication Retreats Ltd, so we highly recommend that you get insurance that covers for all these eventualities.

You may use any travel insurance company you like. Some websites that allow you to compare different insurers and policies are www.worldnomads.com, www.insuremytrip.com or www.squaremouth.com.

“The insurance we used was purchased through John Hancock, we chose the Bronze level and paid a little extra for “cancel for any reason”. They were easy to work with and refunded 75% of the cost of my daughter’s retreat fee, which is what I asked for.” Cheryll travelled with our tour company US, June 2021

There is a weight limit for your luggage on our recommended Transfer Package. Each person is allowed a total of 40 pounds/ 18 kg for all your bags, including carry on luggage. If your luggage is over this amount, there is a possibility it may have to come on a different flight. There will be a charge of $1.00 per pound for each additional pound over the allowed 40lbs. Soft sided bags are necessary as the luggage storage space on the small planes is limited and not square! No single item or bag may exceed 62 linear inches (length plus width plus height). No hard sided suitcases will be permitted that are larger than an airline carry on.

From Miami International Airport (domestic flights): after 3:30 pm*.
From Miami International Airport (international flights): after 4:30 pm*

*Please check with your airline if more time is required.

We have on average in the past years seen the dolphins four days out of five per week.

No, everything is optional. You can choose what you would like to do.

No, we do not offer any discounts.

The coverage depends on your provider. You would have to contact your provider and ask if they have a contract with Bahamas Telecommunication Company – BTC – which provides service for Bimini, Bahamas.

Yes, underwater GoPro cameras are fine as long as they are held close to the body. We ask that you do not use go pro “sticks” as they can feel intrusive towards the dolphins and swimming among other guests.

We do have a team photographer who takes pictures both over and underwater during the week – available for purchase at the end of the week. We do this so that you are free to have the experience heart to heart – and not through a camera lens. Cost $80.

The supplement for a single room is $520 for the week. This includes a single room at the hotel in Fort Lauderdale on the Sunday night, as well as a single room at the retreat centre from Monday to Friday. We have a limited number of rooms and these are given according to the needs of the group. Please tick the box on the registration form if you are interested in a private room.

We have a few rooms with ocean view given on a first come first served basis. The supplement for these is $260 per room per week.

The cost of an extra night at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina is $225 per room. We can arrange this. When you book online you can request extra nights at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina hotel before and /or after your retreat with us, by checking the extra night box. We will then be in touch to confirm your needs.

Yes, we have hairdryers in every room.

The retreat price is based on double occupancy. We have many people come as singles and we pair people up as roommates. We have more women than men that come on our retreats so single women will be paired with another woman. This works very well and many long-term friendships are made. In case a roommate snores, we have ear plugs or can bring your own.

The electricity is the same as the US – 110 volts. Same plugs as in the US.

Yes, we can accommodate all of these diets. When you book online you can enter your special dietary requirements. If you do have any special favourites, bring some along.

This is fine. We have many floatation devices. Our crew members have a lot of experience with people who are aquatically challenged.

Of course, the more practice you can do in a local pool before coming — from floating with your face in the water, holding your breath… or floating face down with snorkel and mask on… to practising swimming — the less time you will need to become familiar with those things in Bimini, and the sooner you can direct your focus towards the dolphins while in the water.

Our boat is a catamaran and very stable in the water. We have ginger pills and ginger juice which help to calm the stomach. It is also possible to bring some travel sickness pills with you such as Dramamine.

We provide small bags for everybody to take on the boat for your personal items. Of course if you have other gear to take on the boat we do have a dry salon where you can keep larger items if needed.

Although hurricanes don’t often happen in the Bahamas, June through November marks the official Atlantic hurricane season.

It’s possible that a week has to be cancelled due to conditions out of our control, such as weather or other adverse conditions. Our tour operator will only cancel a program after a severe weather warning issued by the NOAA, (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) for our area, which means hurricane conditions are expected within 36 hours.

Since 1999 our tour operator has only cancelled nine times due to wild weather. However, if the retreat is cancelled there will be no refunds. Please ensure you have appropriate travel insurance with appropriate cover or ‘cancel for any reason’. Make sure to read the small print of any insurance policy.

It is hot! You only need a few light clothes and sandals. Bring a towel for the boat/beach, hat, T- shirts, shorts, maybe a long sleeve t-shirt to cover from the sun, sunscreen (non-oily and reef safe), sarongs, light rain jacket, a journal, special food requirements, vitamins and insect repellant. You do not need boat shoes – we are barefoot on the boat. We also supply refillable water bottles for you on the boat, as well as a small ”boat bag” for you to put your things in. You may need a rash guard or small ‘shortie’ wetsuit if you are sensitive to hot temperatures, perhaps also some yoga leggings to avoid sunburn. As the calendar moves from September into October the temperature only drops a little: you may like a sweater/pullover and sweat/jogging pants for the evening.

There can be mosquitos, but on the north island where our retreat centre is there are very few. If it is totally still and no wind there can be some mosquitos but usually there is a small breeze which keeps them away. General brand insect repellant will be available, if you have a favourite bring it along.

The Bahamas is blessed with many clear sunny days; perfect for cruising and swimming with dolphins.

Summers are hot and the water gets very warm. The sea breeze cools us down on the boat and is very pleasant coming in from the ocean at night. Rooms are equipped with air conditioning to keep cool.

Bimini’s climate is sub-tropical, hot and humid (average daily relative humidity is around 70%), with 7-10 hours of sunshine per day.

There is only an average 8°C difference between the warmest and coolest months. Year round, the temperature drops about 5°C after dark.

The Bahamas are blessed with around 310 days of sunshine each year or 3,000 hours of sunlight annually. Rain usually happens in localised short showers which pass quickly.
