I can never forget the pod which swam slowly just below me and one turned to show me his silverside and looked me in the eye while we swam along, magical! Pea, you and your team were were fantastically kind and caring to me and all of your 'Yes' pod. Thank you so, so much for this experience of a lifetime, I will never forget it.

- Diane, Hawaii

Pea’s retreat provided a perfect balance between educational, guided, informal and free. Swimming with wild oceanic beings truly mesmerising. The vibrational shift from close contact with dolphins evident and lasting.

- Sandy, Hawaii

Atlantic spotted dolphins are often described as “acrobatic” swimmers, frequently leaping out of the water or jumping at the water’s surface. They are very friendly, enjoy being around humans to interact with them, being a very carefree and energetic species of dolphin.

Bottlenose dolphins, are larger and stockier than the Spotted dolphins, they have more of a warrior like energy. It may be possible to witness amorous Bottlenose males mingling among energetic pods of Spotted dolphins, with successful breeding efforts resulting in hybrid dolphins referred to as “Spottlenose.”

Dolphins embody unconditional love and remind us that what we create with our will becomes our physical reality. Dolphins are experts at increasing our inner joy and childlike play.

The clear blue, warm and shallow waters surrounding the beautiful island of Bimini in the Bahamas are a stunning location to explore interspecies communication with the Dolphins and an abundance of marine life from the smallest reef fish to the Southern Stingrays.

No previous snorkelling experience is necessary for this retreat, we can support you whatever your comfort level.

Communicating with a wild dolphin in person is an unforgettable experience.

Some say Bimini is home to the ancient ‘Lost City of Atlantis’. In the 1930s, an American psychic named Edgar Cayce reported that he had spoken with a person who had lived in the Lost City of Atlantis in a former life who told Cayce that Atlantis had been near Bimini. A pilot flying over the waters near North Bimini reported seeing a parallel structure in shallow water, many people believed these were either walls from Atlantis or a mysterious road leading to Atlantis – a 800-metre-long compound of rectangular limestone blocks.

Pea has created a magical vessel that will hold you safely and allow you to grow as fast or as slow as you are ready. I have been to many, many workshops and this was the first time I felt safe and seen and heard. The dolphins helped facilitate the growing in the ocean and Pea and the group continued it on land. Many of us said we were discovering who we’ve always been—before life covered us with layers. You will not regret choosing yourself. You are in for an adventure!

Day 1 – Arrive into Port Lauderdale (Sun 22 Sept)

Land at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Internal airport (FLL) and transfer to the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina hotel, check-in from 4pm. Settle and relax  in your fresh and comfortable nautical-styled room and cleanse away the air miles by the outdoor pool. We will come together at 6pm for a Meet-and-Greet, followed by supper together.

On retreat in Bimini is like being in another plane of existence. Quiet, peaceful, beautiful. This is not fancy. It is bare bones. It is all about the dolphins and being on a boat for 6 hours a day. It is a place to disconnect from the everyday.

- Susan

Day 2 – Transfer to Bimini (Mon 23 Sept)

An early start and we’re off to Bimini! On arrival we meet for an introduction to our new home for the next five nights, an Opening Ceremony and overview of the week ahead. Following this gathering we will gather up our lunch, rendezvous with our dolphin guides and then transfer to our Catamaran for the start of our adventure. Today you’ll meet new dolphin friends and experience other creatures who wish to connect with you.

Day 3 – Dolphins (Tues 24 Sept)

Another magical day playing with the dolphins and experiencing the energy of Water. Various sea life may cross your path and an open heart and curious mind are all you need to have a magical experience. The swim is all the more special, knowing that it’s all on their terms. Where they live by their own rules and on their own time, and they come and go as they please.

The feeling of love and the wisdom of the cetaceans really opened my eyes as well as helping to develop my communication with them. I was also surrounded by a wonderful pod of humans experiencing their own journey but supporting each other in the process. It was a journey of healing, self-development, awareness and animal communication with many WOW moments.

- Emma, Hawaii

Day 4 – Dolphins (Wed 25 Sept)

Today will be intuitively heart-led by what the dolphins wish us to experience. Perhaps there will be more focus on receiving messages from the dolphins and entering into transmissions of information. Listen to the ocean as you feel gently rocked into a merging with this natural wonder that surrounds and supports all of life. Return after a day of adventure for an evening dinner out in the village.

Pea and her team were so kind, loving, approachable and knowledgeable! I came back with an even greater love for and stronger connection with Mother Nature and the animals. And with a stronger appreciation for life itself and all it has to offer.

- Sybille

Day 5 – Dolphins (Thurs 26 Sept)

More play time with new friends and a deepening into the heart space. Who will cross your path today, will a dolphin connection move you, perhaps you will notice subtle shifts in your energy field, or realise you are a beautiful and perfect being just by being yourself.

Day 6 – Dolphins (Fri 27 Sept)

This is our final experience on the water to say goodbye to our new dolphin friends. We may be blessed with excited dolphin leaps in acknowledgment or a dolphin pod honouring. We’ll share our gratitude with a sacred ceremony out at sea, sharing our love and respect for all the ocean life and Kai (the ocean) herself.

Your last evening in Bimini with your human-Pod sharing experiences with new friends over supper, then maybe enjoying some solo time for silence and contemplation. There will be so many wonderful encounters to reflect on and this could be a good time to journal how you feel and how you will incorporate everything you’ve learned into your life back home.

Pea made certain that we were so well taken care of at ALL times, physically, emotionally, spiritually ❤️ I highly recommend it as it will stay in my heart for always. I found my courage to get me there and I'm SOOOO glad I had this wonderful experience.

- Elaine

Day 7 – Transfer back to Fort Lauderdale (Sat 28 Sept)

This morning we will bring our retreat week to a close with a special sharing gathering. It will be hard to say goodbye to the new friends we’ve made but this is where this journey ends with big smiles and hugs. When you return home you’ll have many incredible stories to share and there will always be a little bit of the Bahamas that remains in your heart. The retreat will finish once you are returned to Fort Lauderdale airport around lunch time.

Please note: This schedule is subject to flow and fluidity at any time due to weather and other factors beyond our control.

Important: Pea will provide some intuitively led interspecies communication sessions, but there will be no formal workshop teaching on this retreat. You are advised to attend an animal communication workshop or complete our online course beforehand in order to understand the necessary basics. You can also read Pea’s new book, Animal Communication Made Easy.

I am ready to go!

The Bahamas

The Bahamas sits in the West Atlantic Ocean, 100 kilometres south-east of Florida in the mainland United States. The Bahamas is a sovereign country and an archipelago of over 700 islands, islets, and cays (low-elevation islands composed of sand, coral debris, or limestone – also known as “keys”).

The word “Bahamas” comes from the Spanish phrase “Baja Mar”, which means shallow ocean. One reason the water in the Bahamas is so blue is due to shallow waters surrounding the islands.

Bimini, The Islands of Legends

Bimini is the westernmost district of the Bahamas and comprises of three islands, North Bimini, South Bimini, and East Bimini. We will be based on North Bimini island, which is about 11 km (7 mi) long and 200 m (700 ft) wide.

A place where Ernest Hemingway’s favourite seaside hideaway meets the Lost City of Atlantis, and pristine beaches lead to waters teeming with fishes, 50 miles from Florida’s eastern coast, Bimini exists in a world of its own.

Your Accommodation – Bimini Oceanside Rooms

Your comfortable accommodation is based at the ocean side with coastal views of the passing dolphins and spectacular sunsets. Stunning beaches are a minute’s walk away. Our boat guides are on our doorstep for effortless transfers, and perfectly located for restaurants and shops. A limited number of room upgrades are available for Ocean View and/or Single Occupancy. All rooms are allocated as twin-share, unless upgrades are specifically requested in advance.

Your Meals – Bimini

The food in healthy and delicious and there is always plenty of it. Our expert cook prepares delicious, mostly organic, healthy meals, and can cater for dietary needs such as vegetarian, vegan, dairy free and gluten free. Other specific dietary needs may be able to be accommodated with significant advance notice.

Help yourself to coffee and teas, regular, soy and almond milk and honey. There is also filtered drinking water and iced herbal tea with dinner.

Meals are served in the dining room in the main house. It’s a treat to eat outside at the communal table, overlooking the garden and the bay. We take our turn in the clearing and washing up, this is more home-fare than silver service. Expect to be a pod-player and dive in where your help is needed.

What an amazing privilege to be able to connect so deeply with nature and spend time with Pea and the other fabulous people in our group. I didn't want it to end. If you're thinking of doing a retreat, go for it, you won't regret it.

Suitability

This is an open ocean experience which requires basic swimming skills and reasonable fitness. More novice swimmers can take advantage of floatation aids and/or buoyancy jackets. If in doubt do take floatation support on the first few times while you get used to the experience. We also have a great team to help you feel comfortable in the water. Those with back issues or other concerns that impair getting in or out of the water and swimming/snorkelling in open water may not find this a suitable retreat.

You need to be able to:

  • Get in and out of a small plane
  • Get in and out of a water taxi
  • Be able to walk down four small steps to the marine toilet
  • Be able to get into the water and back onto the boat using a metal boat ladder

Snorkelling

Participant’s can attend without snorkelling skills but it’s advised to practice snorkelling prior to attending. Practice in a pool with snorkel and mask before you come, if you can. This will help you feel more relaxed in the ocean and better able to enjoy being with the dolphins.

It is not expected that you go into the ocean at every ‘drop’. It is perfectly acceptable to stay on board and enjoy a different kind of experience. We also suggest you’re aware of your energy level and when you may feel tired and need a rest to honour your body.

The Boat

Our boat is a comfortable 41ft Catamaran with space to relax, and enter into conversation or find your own spot of quiet time. There are plenty of places to relax in the shade or sun and soak up the stunning scenery. There is a marine toilet (head) onboard and wide rear steps (transoms), which allow easy entry in and out of the water.

We usually motor out (surprisingly quiet) of the bay to meet the dolphins. When the breeze picks up, we sail along, harnessing the loveliness and power of nature. Catamarans are stable and don’t roll side to side like mono-hull boats. The stability means nausea is rare, even for those usually sensitive to sea-sickness.

It is vital that everyone follows every instruction given by the Captain and crew when on board and in the water. They are there to take care of your safety and will be knowledgeable about many factors of which you are unaware.

Our retreat allows you to fully relax into the experience, thanks to our world-class crew who provide the highest level of care, nourishment and safety at all times (on and off the water!)

Expectations

This is a wilderness retreat and therefore not for just anyone. If you are expecting a luxury all-inclusive resort with people serving you, this retreat is not for you. This is a ‘family-like’ environment: we take turns doing the dishes and eat together as a group.

If you are in any doubt about your suitability for this retreat please make contact.

FAQ’s

CANCELLATION INSURANCE

This covers you for the rare possibility that you might have to cancel due to illness, family emergency or situations out of your control.

It is also possible that the programme has to be cancelled due to weather or other adverse conditions out of our control. Our hosts will only cancel a programme due to possible severe weather once NOAA has issued a hurricane warning for our area, which means hurricane conditions are expected within 36 hours.

In these cases there will be NO refunds, programme reschedules or replacements possible from Animal Communication Retreats Ltd, so we highly recommend that you get insurance that covers for all these eventualities.

You may use any travel insurance company you like. Some websites that allow you to compare different insurers and policies are www.worldnomads.com, www.insuremytrip.com or www.squaremouth.com.

“The insurance we used was purchased through John Hancock, we chose the Bronze level and paid a little extra for “cancel for any reason”. They were easy to work with and refunded 75% of the cost of my daughter’s retreat fee, which is what I asked for.” Cheryll travelled with our tour company US, June 2021

There is a weight limit for your luggage on our recommended Transfer Package. Each person is allowed a total of 40 pounds/ 18 kg for all your bags, including carry on luggage. If your luggage is over this amount, there is a possibility it may have to come on a different flight. There will be a charge of $1.00 per pound for each additional pound over the allowed 40lbs. Soft sided bags are necessary as the luggage storage space on the small planes is limited and not square! No single item or bag may exceed 62 linear inches (length plus width plus height). No hard sided suitcases will be permitted that are larger than an airline carry on.

From Miami International Airport (domestic flights): after 3:30 pm*.

*Please check with your airline if more time is required.

We have on average in the past years seen the dolphins four days out of five per week.

No, everything is optional. You can choose what you would like to do.

No, we do not offer any discounts.

The coverage depends on your provider. You would have to contact your provider and ask if they have a contract with Bahamas Telecommunication Company – BTC – which provides service for Bimini, Bahamas.

Yes, underwater GoPro cameras are fine as long as they are held close to the body. We ask that you do not use go pro “sticks” as they can feel intrusive towards the dolphins and swimming among other guests.

We do have a team photographer who takes pictures both over and underwater during the week – available for purchase at the end of the week. We do this so that you are free to have the experience heart to heart – and not through a camera lens. Cost $80.

The supplement for a single room is $520 for the week. This includes a single room at the hotel in Fort Lauderdale on the Sunday night, as well as a single room at the retreat centre from Monday to Friday. We have a limited number of rooms and these are given according to the needs of the group. Please tick the box on the registration form if you are interested in a private room.

We have a few rooms with ocean view given on a first come first served basis. The supplement for these is $260 per room per week.

The cost of an extra night at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina is $225 per room. We can arrange this. When you book online you can request extra nights at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina hotel before and /or after your retreat with us, by checking the extra night box. We will then be in touch to confirm your needs.

Yes, we have hairdryers in every room.

The retreat price is based on double occupancy. We have many people come as singles and we pair people up as roommates. We have more women than men that come on our retreats so single women will be paired with another woman. This works very well and many long-term friendships are made. In case a roommate snores, we have ear plugs or can bring your own.

The electricity is the same as the US – 110 volts. Same plugs as in the US.

Yes, we can accommodate all of these diets. When you book online you can enter your special dietary requirements. If you do have any special favourites, bring some along.

This is fine. We have many floatation devices. Our crew members have a lot of experience with people who are aquatically challenged.

Of course, the more practice you can do in a local pool before coming — from floating with your face in the water, holding your breath… or floating face down with snorkel and mask on… to practising swimming — the less time you will need to become familiar with those things in Bimini, and the sooner you can direct your focus towards the dolphins while in the water.

Our boat is a catamaran and very stable in the water. We have ginger pills and ginger juice which help to calm the stomach. It is also possible to bring some travel sickness pills with you such as Dramamine.

We provide small bags for everybody to take on the boat for your personal items. Of course if you have other gear to take on the boat we do have a dry salon where you can keep larger items if needed.

Although hurricanes don’t often happen in the Bahamas, June through November marks the official Atlantic hurricane season.

It’s possible that a week has to be cancelled due to conditions out of our control, such as weather or other adverse conditions. Our tour operator will only cancel a program after a severe weather warning issued by the NOAA, (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) for our area, which means hurricane conditions are expected within 36 hours.

Since 1999 our tour operator has only cancelled nine times due to wild weather. However, if the retreat is cancelled there will be no refunds. Please ensure you have appropriate travel insurance with appropriate cover or ‘cancel for any reason’. Make sure to read the small print of any insurance policy.

It is hot! You only need a few light clothes and sandals. Bring a towel for the boat/beach, hat, T- shirts, shorts, maybe a long sleeve t-shirt to cover from the sun, sunscreen (non-oily and reef safe), sarongs, light rain jacket, a journal, special food requirements, vitamins and insect repellant. You do not need boat shoes – we are barefoot on the boat. We also supply refillable water bottles for you on the boat, as well as a small ”boat bag” for you to put your things in. You may need a rash guard or small ‘shortie’ wetsuit if you are sensitive to hot temperatures, perhaps also some yoga leggings to avoid sunburn. As the calendar moves from September into October the temperature only drops a little: you may like a sweater/pullover and sweat/jogging pants for the evening.

There can be mosquitos, but on the north island where our retreat centre is there are very few. If it is totally still and no wind there can be some mosquitos but usually there is a small breeze which keeps them away. General brand insect repellant will be available, if you have a favourite bring it along.

The Bahamas is blessed with many clear sunny days; perfect for cruising and swimming with dolphins.

Summers are hot and the water gets very warm. The sea breeze cools us down on the boat and is very pleasant coming in from the ocean at night. Rooms are equipped with air conditioning to keep cool.

Bimini’s climate is sub-tropical, hot and humid (average daily relative humidity is around 70%), with 7-10 hours of sunshine per day.

There is only an average 8°C difference between the warmest and coolest months. Year round, the temperature drops about 5°C after dark.

The Bahamas are blessed with around 310 days of sunshine each year or 3,000 hours of sunlight annually. Rain usually happens in localised short showers which pass quickly.
